Senior SAP HR Systems Project Manager - Contract

Contract length: 6-18 months
Location: City centre (hybrid - minimum 3 days onsite)
Engagement: Multiphase programme 6 months extending to 18 months

We're supporting a large, complex organisation through a multi-phase SAP HR and Payroll transformation programme and are seeking an experienced SAP Project Manager with deep SAP HR / Payroll experience to lead delivery across Day 1 readiness and post-go-live optimisation.

This is a senior, hands-on project leadership role operating in a highly regulated, multi-stakeholder environment with multiple system integrations and external vendors.

The role - day to day

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of SAP HR and Payroll projects, from planning and governance through to stabilisation and optimisation
  • Own Day 1 readiness for organisational change and manage post-go-live optimisation phases
  • Drive complex systems integration across SAP HR/Payroll and wider enterprise platforms (HR, payroll, workforce and operational systems)
  • Act as the central point of coordination across HR, HRIS, ICT, Payroll, Finance and external vendors
  • Establish strong governance, risk management, reporting and decision-ready updates for senior stakeholders
  • Embed process excellence: root-cause analysis, documentation, standardisation and sustainable fixes
  • Oversee testing, data quality, validation and change management activities

Skills & experience required

  • Proven experience as a Project Manager delivering SAP HR and Payroll implementations or major upgrades
  • Strong background in SAP systems integration within complex, multi-system environments
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multi-vendor and multi-stakeholder programmes
  • Excellent understanding of HR operations and payroll processes
  • Track record of operating in large, regulated or public-sector environments
  • Confident, autonomous operator who can act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills

Nice to have (not essential)

  • Experience with ServiceNow HR modules, e-Rostering, LMS platforms or Occupational Health systems
  • Background in healthcare or large multi-entity organisations
