Outbound & Reverse Logistics Manager - Clinical Trials

Vitalograph- Vitalograph is the world's leading manufacturers of medical respiratory diagnostic devices and software, used in the diagnosis of respiratory disorders, and advanced high-reliability equipment and software systems used in respiratory end-point clinical drug trials. Based in Ennis, Co. Clare for over forty-five years, we now wish to recruit for the following Role.

This is a unique and challenging new role within our Clinical Trials division. The role will be responsible for managing a team of personnel involved in the acquisition and management of physical products used in Clinical Drug Trials, from Vitalograph and third parties. The role is based in Ennis, Co. Clare but with personnel based in the UK, US and Japan.



Primary Responsibilities



Logistics Management

  • Manage the logistics of getting clinical trial products into and out of multiple countries and regions
    • Maintain a database of country import regulations and methods
    • Maintain a matrix of product vs country requirements
    • Source and nurture import agents for individual countries and regions
    • Seek continuous cost and service improvements
    • Guide export clerks on import methodologies in various countries
    • Maintain compliance with regulations governing the logistics


Asset Management

  • Manage the clinical trial assets
    • Maintain the Vitalograph Process Management (VPM) database
    • Ensure VPM movements are audited and accurate
    • Know when product is due for renewal or replacement and organize same
    • Maintain the product forecast and provide to manufacturing
    • Ensure stock is rotated
    • Maintain items to current revision and spec
    • Ensure third party equipment is ordered and ships in a timely manner
    • Continuous review, monitoring and reporting of available asset stock to ensure prompt deployment within the agreed requirements of CT project contracts while maximizing utilization of assets over their lifetime
    • Develop and manage a consumable stock monitoring and rotation process to minimize risk of shelf-life expiry


Equipment Provisioning Management

  • Supervise the 'Managed Equipment Service'(MES) team in Ennis and globally.
    • Manage the team performing the product provisioning
    • Plan provisioning and at which locations it should be performed
    • Add additional provisioning sites if required
    • Ensure there are sufficient resources, permanent and contract, to meet demand

Role Requirements

  • Ten plus years logistical experience or reverse logistics
  • Global logistic experience across all continents
  • Management experience and supervision of others
  • A background in medical devices or Pharma would be advantageous but not essential
  • Ability to create and maintain processes and procedures
  • Fully computer literate
